Can you bath a dog who is nursing puppies?

Post  mtptl on Sat May 29, 2010 4:58 am

My dog recently gave birth. It has been about two weeks since the puppies were born.
She is in need of a bath, but is it safe to give her a bath while she is nursing?

If I can, what should I use? I have a dog shampoo I bought before she gave birth.

yes you can bath her in a normal/general shampoo but make sure you rinse her very well afterwards and use a hair dryer so she is nice and dry before going back to her pups. make sure pups are warm enough while mum is away.

Bathing has no effect on a dog that's nursing. It won't matter if you use the regular shampoo, it won't do anything to your dog, its body, or its puppies. Congrats on your new puppies! Btw, is your dog a :)miniature schnauzer too?
