From my experience a 5 months old puppy of 27 cm will become when he will be adult not more of 32 cm. His father Manly was 28 cm at 5 months and now he is 33 cm.
It's more easy to do over size dogs that dogs in size.
I never use in my Kennel an over size dog.

That it is!!
I also hope very much to have smaller puppy's.
But when you have it in your line it is so diffirent to go smaller...
I have now Fenna and she is giving me normal small puppy's.
But her mother Dyma not...
So i looking again and again for studs who will hopely giving me smaller puppy's.

But when your males are so small...how are the femeles??
For me is 32 to small for a male...i like a 34 male Wink

I like small females, my Dahlia Tamuura is 30 cm, and Judges in Dog Shows love that. All my females are beetwen 30 cm to 32 cm, only my Ceredwyn "Nina " is 34 cm, like her mother.
When you have a big dog in your Kennel ( over 35 cm ) it is veryyyy easy to have over size puppies. So I prefer not try to use big dogs ( over 35 cm ).
I think a breeder must do all he can for improving his breed.
I don't like when someone go in Dog Show with an over size dog and always Judges give to the dog VERY GOOD or GOOD for the size..it's a pity ! No No No
When I go in Dog Shows I go for have EXCELLENTS results with my dogs.
I think sometimes it's so difficoult but a good breeder MUST always has the courage to find good familys for all those dogs with defects.
Unfortunately very often I have maked so long long way for having special dogs but when they are growing up some defects are coming up..
And I have find for them good loving new homes.
My Arthas is out of 2 SCEDIR dogs, and he is a beautiful male, but he is 36 cm , so I never have used him and never I will do. He sleep like all our dogs on our sofa and on our beds, but he is the Pet of Frostmourne Kennel....

It's difficoult to have beautiful and correct puppies out of EXCELLENT parents... I would be worried to have litters with parents with defects.

You would never use a dog of 36cm? pale 35.5cm is the ideal height for a male (according to UK breed standard)

From what you say of most of your females they would be considered very tiny and toyish for the UK rings where a bitch should be 33cm.

just shows how different the judging is, in different countries.

Here we are in Italy not in UK, here Judges WANT dogs from 30 cm to 35 cm. And ALWAYS, also in National Dog Shows Judges measure Schnauzers.
If a Mini Schnauzer is 35.5 cm or over it, Judge give him VERY GOOD !!!!
Here Judges are very severe with the size.
Over 36 cm they can disqualify a Mini Schnauzer.

This is the correct way in the future can not be 36-40 + and 10-13kg
Male of 36cm it is a difficult 9.5-10kg.

I just don't think it should go so much the other way though, or soon they will be 'tea cup schnauzers' instead of miniatures. Surprised

Oh yes, also Tea Cup Schnauzers it's not correct. I think it's wrong to have over size dogs but also too much little isn't well. Under 30 cm they are Tea Cup. I like to have dogs in Standard ( 30 cm - 35 cm ).

What say in UK the Standard for Mini Schnauzers about size ?

In the uk the height is stated as 'Size
Ideal height: dogs: 36 cms (14 ins); bitches: 33 cms (13 ins). Too small, toyish appearing dogs are not typical and undesirable.'

so perhaps you can see why I would not rule out your male Arthus on height, even though you have said you would never breed with him because of it. The second sentence also tells us why in the UK we don't tend to show or breed from small miniatures. A bitch of under 32cm would be classed as to small by most judges and a male of that height would never get placed

Okay, I had to convert some of these figures to understand, but 4 kg is less than 9 lbs.!!!!! I hope they are referring to puppies in that breed standard! My smallest bitches are over 12 lbs. (5.4kg), and my largest (in size... 14"...35.5cm) males have been 20 lbs. (9 kg).
